About Hang Seng Management College – Foundation



The Hang Seng Management College – Foundation (HSMC – Foundation) is established by Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) to serve as a platform to engage donors to be connected to advance its teaching, learning and research priorities. Embracing the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, HSMC aspires to become a leading private liberal-arts-oriented university in the region. 


Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) was restructured from the former Hang Seng School of Commerce and was established in 2010 as a non-profit, private university-level institution, with five Schools (Business, Communication, Decision Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, and Translation) and around 5,000 full-time students. Adopting the “Liberal + Professional” education model which incorporates the iGPS “desired graduate attributes” framework, HSMC is a residential institution which puts quality teaching and students’ all-round development as its highest priorities. Aspiring to be a leading private liberal-arts-oriented university in the region, HSMC features top-quality faculty members, award-winning green campus facilities, innovative degree programmes, impactful research on corporate sustainability, and excellent student support services, with the aim of nurturing young talents with critical thinking, innovative minds, caring attitude, moral values and social responsibility.


HSMC has 5 Schools (Business, Communication, Decision Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, and Translation) with a student population of around 5,000. HSMC currently offers 17 4-year bachelor’s (Honours) degree programmes, namely, Business Administration (with concentrations in Accounting, Banking & Finance, and Marketing), Corporate Governance, Financial Analysis, Human Resource Management, Management, Journalism & Communication, Convergent Media and Communication Technology, Actuarial Studies and Insurance, Data Science & Business Intelligence, Management Science & Information Management, Supply Chain Management, Applied and Human-Centred Computing, Asian Studies, Cultural and Creative Industries, Chinese, English, and Translation with Business, together with five master’s degree programmes — Master of Science in Entrepreneurial Management, Master of Arts in Strategic Communication, Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management, Master of Arts in Translation (Computer-aided Translation) and Master of Arts in Translation (Business and Legal). Many of these programmes are unique and the first of its kind in the region. All programmes were accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and recognised by the HKSAR Government.


The key characteristic that distinguishes HSMC from other local institutions is greater flexibility and autonomy in its approach to achieving higher education excellence. Equipped with award-winning Residential Colleges specially designed to enhance students’ residence life by combining living and learning, HSMC is fully dedicated to nurturing talents to help enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness in the global knowledge-based economy.



Leadership and Objective

HSMC – Foundation reports to the HSMC Board of Governors and is managed by a Foundation Management Committee. With a view to deepening connection with members of the corporate community, individuals and alumni, the Committee is charged with the duties to ensure safe custody of and decide usage of the funds of HSMC – Foundation.



Membership Categories

Donors are eligible to become members of HSMC – Foundation. Membership is categorised according to the cumulative sum of donations and can be upgraded as per the amount of cumulative donations.

  • Acknowledgements on the official website and publications of HSMC
  • Receiving special recognition on the Foundation Wall on the College campus
  • Special invitations to participate in exclusive College events, ceremonies and academic functions, seminars and forums, etc.
  • Receiving a HSMC – Foundation Membership Card with various privileges, including:
    • Free entry to HSMC Library at S H Ho Academic Building;
    • Enjoying services at HSMC catering outlets on campus;
    • Waiver of Membership fee for access to sports facilities and amenities on campus (a usage fee will be charged where applicable); and
    • Applying for the HSMC Credit Card along with related benefits
  • Receiving HSMC publications and news updates
